the bradenton christian volleyball team lost to #1 Bayshore christian in straight sets on saturday night to end the lady panthers season. the lady panthers end their season with a record of 24-5, making it to the regional semi-finals in class 1a. the faith warriors, who are now 28-2, later qualified for the final four by defeating the cambridge school.

the lady panthers began the first game on fire, jumping out to a 5-1 and later 8-3 lead. however, the power and awesome execution of the faith warriors began to take over, putting the lady panthers always on the defensive. bayshore christian would take the first game 25-17. the next two games was more of the same: the focused and intense attack of the faith warriors constantly putting the lady panthers on the defense. in the end, the offense was just too much for the lady panthers on this day as the faith warriors end the lady panther season. lady panther hitters jocelyn geraldson, jessica bratton, sara vanderbent and stephanie benardo together had 11 kills for the match. congratulations to seniors: jessica bratton, christina benardo and sara vanderbent on great careers at bradenton christian; and to the entire team on a great season!

the bradenton christian lady panther volleyball team defeated the visiting canterbury crusaders in straight sets to advance to the regional semi-finals on saturday. the lady panthers are now 24-4 on the season, while canterbury ends their season at 22-4. the lady panthers will play @ bayshore christian on Saturday @ 4:00pm. the winner of that game will play again in a regional final that night @ 7:00pm (@ bayshore Christian).

for the match, senior jessica bratton led the lady panther offensive attack with 7 kills, 3 blocks and 2 service points. juniors jocelyn geraldson and rachel kindred added 5 kills, geraldson also with 2 blocks and kindred with 3. stephanie benardo added 11 assists for the lady panthers. **the lady panthers claim the district title!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the bradenton christian volleyball team claimed their first district title since 1999, defeating sarasota christian in 3 games at out of door academy. the #8 ranked lady panthers are now 23-4 on the season and will play host to canterbury of st.pete in a regional quarterfinal match on tuesday, nov. 4 @ 7:00pm.

in the first two games, the lady panthers struggled at the beginning, losing in both games by 4-5 points. however, in each game the lady panthers rallied behind strong serving and relentless offensive attacks that kept the lady blazers on their heels. the lady panthers showed their muscle in the 3rd game by winning in convincing fashion. for the match, stephanie benardo led the lady panthers with 6 kills and 8 assists. jocelyn geraldson added 6 kills, 3 blocks and an assist, while jessica bratton added 6 kills and 4 blocks in the winning effort. 8th grader tara stutts added some great digs in the back row to spark the lady panthers in the 2nd and 3rd games.

the bradenton christian lady panthers assured themselves of qualifying for the regional volleyball tournament with a convincing 3-0 win over bradenton academy. with the win, the lady panthers move on to the district final vs 3rd seeded sarasota christian on friday night @ 7:00pm. the district champion and district runner-up move on to regional play next tuesday, nov. 4.
for the match, the lady panthers dominated from start to finish, as the blazers of bradenton academy just didn't have the weapons to compete with the lady panthers. jocelyn geraldson led a balanced offensive attack with 6 kills and 2 assists. sara vanderbent, stephanie benardo and jessica bratton added 5, 4, and 4 kills respectively in the win. benardo added 5 assists.
the lady panthers remain undefeated in district play at 13-0 and are now 22-4 overall.

the bradenton christian volleyball team lost to cross-town rival st.stephens in a classic 5 game thriller on the lady panthers senior night. the visiting falcons avenged last week's loss to the lady panthers on their senior night. in a match that lasted ust shy of 2 hours, the two teams battled it out, with many long points and both teams fighting for momentum. in the end, the short-handed panthers, who were playing their second straight 5 set thriller and without senior mH jessica bratton, could not make one last rally as the falcons outscored the panthers 8-4 to close out the match. all-conference player jocelyn geraldson led the lady panthers with 12 kills, 9 blocks and 1 ace, while teammate and fellow all-conference performer stephanie benardo added 9 kills and 19 assists. teammate rachel kindred added 6 kills, 2 blocks and 5 aces. the lady panthers finish the regular season at a remarkable 21-4, 12-0 in districts, and enter next week's district tournament as the #1 seed. the lady panthers will play tuesday, oct. 28 @ 7:00pm at out of door academy vs everglades city/bradenton academy.

the bradenton christian lady panther volleyball team lost to host bayshore christian in a classic 5 game match. the lady faith warriors defeated the lady panthers for the second time this season. the lady panthers are now 21-3 on the season with one match to play tonight at home vs st.stephens. the match was as close and as highly contested as the score indicates, with the momentum switching back and forth between the teams. in the deciding 5th game, the score @ 7-7 with the lady panthers serving, sr. hitter jessica bratton went down with a slight ankle sprain. although bratton returned the next point, the momentum had now swung in bayshore christian's favor, outscoring the lady panthers 8-3 to finish the game. for the match, bratton's play was outstanding. bratton had 7 kills and 16 blocks. stephanie benardo added 6 kills and 9 assists for the lady panthers. tonight's match vs st.stephens is the last home regular season match for the 3 seniors on the team: sara vanderbent, jessica bratton and christina benardo.

the bradenton Christian volleyball team defeated the visiting mustangs from community christian in straight sets by the scores of 25-4, 25-17, and 25-6. the lady panthers, ranked #5 in class 1a, are now 10-0 in district play, 18-2 overall. jocelyn geraldson led the lady panther offense with 6 kills, 2 assists, and 2 aces. sara vander bent added a kill, 10 assists and 3 aces and danielle fisher added a kill and 9 service aces. the lady panthers took control of the match in the first game, scoring teh first 9 points behind the serving of stephanie benardo. danielle fisher also scored 10 straight service points to increase the lead to 21-3 and eventually win 25-4. christina benardo and geraldson had 3 kills in the first game. the lady panthers opened the 2nd game with 3 missed serves, leading to a 11-3 mustang advantage. however, the lady panthers rallied behind the strong serving of vander bent, jessica bratton and benardo to eventually overtake the mustangs. the lady panthers also used a balance offensive attack, with 6 different players recording a kill in the 2nd game. the lady panthers showed their excellance once again in the 3rd game, jumping out to a 9-3 advantage. it was the serving of fisher once again, as well as the hitting of bratton that sparked the lady panthers. vander bent played an excellant all-around match for the lady panthers. the lady panthers next play at out of door academy @ 6:30pm tomarrow night in one of two district games left before the end of the season. the lady panthers return home to play their final district game on friday, oct. 17 vs bradenton academy @ 7:00pm.

the lady panther Jv lost for just the second time this season, dropping a 24-26, 19-25 hard-fought match against a tough cardinal mooney squad. the lady panther jv team is now 3-2 on the season, and will play today (friday) vs Manatee heat @ 4:30pm at gt bray park. for the match, courtney jones had 5 kills and 2 aces, tara stutts had 4 kills, 5 assists and 1 ace, and allison wubben had 5 assists and 1 ace.

game summary: the lady panthers continued on their winning track with a 3-1 win over bay conference opponent the cambridge school. the lady panthers are now 8-2 overall, 1-1 in conference play, with their next game @ conference foe tampa baptist on thursday @ 7:00pm. the first game was won by the lady panthers, which included a huge run of tough serves by jessica bratton. with the score 14-11, bratton served 11 consecutive points to get the 1st game. the cambridge school rebounded in game 2, taking the game 25-21 behind the strong play of 6'3" hitter betsy brown. the second game featured many side outs, with both teams failing to get a strong edge. the third game featured jessica bratton serving once again, as she closed out the game with 6 more service points to win 25-18. in the 4th and final game, stephanie benardo made 9 service points in the game to help the lady panthers gain the win. for the match, the lady panthers featured a balanced offensive attack, led by bratton with 6 kills, followed by sara vander bent and rachel kindred with 5 kills. vander bent added 11 assists for the match.

saturday, Sept 13: Manatee county volleyball tournament @ bayshore High school

***the bradenton christian lady panthers are manatee county champions for the 4th time in 5 years!!!!!!

tournament summary: the lady panthers are the 2003 manatee county champions for the 4th time in 5 years! the lady panthers defeated manatee high not once, but twice in the championship to regain their title after a one year hiatus. for the day, the lady panthers went 5-1 in matches, losing only to manatee high early in the day, but avenged that loss in the championship matches to capture the title. the lady panthers defeated tournament favorite, palmetto high, 2-0 in the days first match. the lady panthers defeated 2002 champion, lakewood ranch high, in the second round, before losing to manatee high by the score of 2-1. with the lady panthers now in the losers bracket, they had to defeat lakewood ranch again, before defeating manatee high in the championship. (scores and stats coming later) the lady panthers will next play on monday, sept. 15 vs cambridge @ 7:00pm, with the JV @ 5:30.

tuesday, sept. 9:
bcs varsity girls: 25 25 25
sarasota chr: 16, 12, 23
game summary: the lady panthers cruised to their second win of the season by defeating district foe sarasota christian in 3 straight sets. the first game saw the lady panthers jump out to a 9-6 lead behind the serving of sara vander bent, who served 4 straight to build up the lead. the teams exchanged points to a score of 15-12, until stephanie benardo served 5 straight to go up 20-13. the lady panthers received the serve back, and rachel kindred made sarasota christian pay by serving another 3 straight, before the lady panthers closed the game with a side out. for the first game, jocelyn geraldson led the lady panthers with 6 kills, and stephanie benardo added 9 assists.

the second game featured more of the same, with the lady panthers serving tough to jump out to a 4-1 and 13-3 advantage. geraldson and kindred led the way with tough serves, while the combination of vander bent setting and geraldson, kindred and jessica bratton hitting provided plenty of attack. after sarasota christian scored 3 straight, vanderbent and bratton answered with 2 and 3 service points to go up 21-11. the lady panthers closed out the game with 3 points, 2 by stephanie benardo's jump serve and kindred's closing serve in game 2. bratton led the lady panther attack with 5 kills, while vander bent added 7 assists.

the lady blazers came out tough in the 3rd game, taking a 9-7 lead behind the serving of heather coblentz, who scored 4 straight points with serve. lacie king provided 2 key blocks against the mighty hitters of bCS. after a lady panther time out, bcs regained the serve to score 2 points. the teams exchanged side outs, before stephanie hit 2 consecutive ace serves for the lady panthers to go up 16-15. the lady panther comeback was capped by a monster smash by geraldson. once again, the teams exchanged side outs for a bcs 21-19 lead. during the exchange, stephanie benardo added another monster kill. the teams exchanged side outs, leading to match point in which stephanie got match point for the lady panthers.

for the match, geraldson led a balanced offensive attack with 10 kills, followed by christina benardo, bratton and stephanie benardo with 7 and 6 respectively. stephanie benardo and vander bent added 15 and 13 assists respectively. the lady panthers as a team passed extremely well, which set up a very potent offensive attack. the lady panthers next play saturday in the county tournament @ bayshore high school.

the lady panther jv lost their first match of the season 1-2 to sarasota christian. the JV is now 2-1 on the season. for the match, tara stutts had 8 kills, 6 assists and 12 aces. courtney jones added 3 kills, 4 assists and 3 ace serves. the lady panthers next play monday night vs cambridge school (home) @ 5:30pm.

game summary: the bayshore christian lady faith warriors defeated the lady panthers in 4 games by the scores of 22-25, 10-25, 25-21, 16-25. the lady panthers drop to 1-1 on the season, and o-1 in bay conference play. rachel kindred had 22 service points for the match, while jocelyn geraldson led the lady panthers in kills with 12. the first game featured both teams sharing leads with neither team leading by more than 4. the second game featured some strong serving by bayshore christian freshman adria Mullaney who served the final 9 points of the second game. the lady panthers took game 3 behind the serving of kindred and the blocking of bratton. bayshore christian rebounded in the 4th game for the win behind the strong serving of sr. Katie mitchum. the lady panthers next play friday, sept. 5 @ everglades city in their first district match of the season.
