Magley
All Time Scorer |
Jessica
Magley, a sophomore center for the Lady Panthers, became the all time
scoring leader Friday night against Mantee High School. Jessica passed
Jennifer Tiona, a 1997 graduate and member of the 1996-97 State Championship
Team. The old record was 1,666 and with her 32 points, Jessica presently
has 1,669 points.
The Varsity Girls enter the district tournament
this week with a record of 25-2, ranked #1 in the district and #5 in the
state. The Lady Panthers next take on ST. Stephen's in the first round
of Districts @ Keswick on Monday @ 7:30. Good Luck Girls!!!

The victory was BCS coach Jim Van Til's 300th as a girls varsity basketball
coach at Bradenton Christian.
Jessica Bratton had 10 points and four steals
for the Panthers (23-2), who will travel to Indian Rocks Christian on
Thursday to take on the American League champs in the conference title
game.
It was the first time Cambridge (26-3) lost
to a fellow Class 1A school this season.

| Homecoming
2003: That's Entertainment |
Homecoming week
began Monday, January 27. The theme for this year was"That's
Entertainment". Homecoming is always a time of fun
and excitement for the entire BCS community. This year, the Sophomore
class pulled off a surprising win for the week. They tied for first in
the class lip synch and won the class banner. This puts them in close
competition with the senior class for the full year Classes In Action
contest. The winning class will get a day off of school spend as they
choose.
A special thanks to the BCS Student Council
and the Class Officers for their extra effort during this week. It was
an unqualified success due to their hard work and dedication.

Girls Win
Bay Conference |
By
virtue of their 70 to 34 win over Indian Rocks Christian, the Varsity
Girls join the Varsity Soccer team as Bay Conference
Champions. The girls were undefeated in the American
League division. Jessica Bratton, Sara VanderBent, Jessica Magley, and
Christine Civil were selected to the All-Conference Team.
The girls begin the district tournament
as the #1 seed on Monday at 7:30 at Keswick Christian against #8 seed
St. Stephen's. Good Luck!
Homecoming
2003 is off to a roaring start. The Senior High was treated to a Chapel
Message from BCS Graduate and area Youth Pastor Vance Harbaugh. Also
on Monday, the classes took part in the Strongest Class Competition.
It was a clean sweep by the Senior Class. Matt Powell won the arm wrestling,
Daniel Courtney won the bench press and Justin Powers won the car push.
These guys teamed with Abby Weichel to win the tug-of-war.
Tuesday
was highlighted by the Great Food-Fest-O-Rama Extra-vaganza. Students
from each class took part in a Pie Eating Race, a Slurpy Chug and a
Bobbing for Worms in Pudding. This day was a clean sweep by the Sophomores.
Tyler Jordan won the Pie Eating, Tim Wilkinson won the Slurpy Chug and
Jordan Westra won the Bobbing for Worms. Each of them won a gift certificate
for their trouble.
Wednesday's
competition was the Lip Synch. All of the performers did an incredible
job. The Freshmen brought selections from the Bee-Gees and the Beetles.
The Sophomores wowed the crowd with Vanilla Ice and C&C Music Factory.
The Seniors took us for a walk down memory lane with a greatest hits
of TV and Movies ending with a great Sound of Music parody. The Seniors
and Sophomores were judged too close to call and were both awarded first
place. Giving the Freshmen second.
Thursday's activity was the Ultimate Race
-- a wild mix of speed, obstacles, and messiness. The race was tight
as the participants entered the final leg. Freshman Shane O'Neill and
Senior Joey Rice slid down the oil slick and into the muck pool within
seconds of one another. However, Shane was lucky enough to find his
team's flag on the first try bringing home first place for the Freshmen.
The Class Banners were judged on Thursday
afternoon, and in a tight contest, the Sophomores came in first, Freshmen
second, Seniors third and Juniors fourth. The banners will be displayed
in the gym for homecoming.
The Freshman Class pulled off an upset
in the Class Skit competition. They placed first with their rendition
of Saturday Night Live. Taylor Stutts was the MVP of the skit with roles
as the Hyper-Hypo, a bruised and battered Spirit Water drinker and Pastor
Dave Nyland.
